Post Qualifying Training.

During the 1990's a framework for post-qualifying training was established in the UK. The framework introduced two new awards:

The Post-qualifying Award (PQSW) - which seeks to build on workers' qualifying training and aims to give recognition to their developing skills and expertise in social work.

The Advanced Award (AASW) - which recognises high skills in practice, policy making, leadership and management.

Over recent years the range of courses that are set at the PQSW or AASW levels has grown. Details of these can be obtained from the Scottish Post-qualifying Consortium.

The West of Scotland Consortium delivers two courses within the Post-qualifying framework. These courses are:

Practice Teacher Training

and

Mental Health Officer Training
